Where we stand

The pandemic has also highlighted the vulnerability of small industrial enterprises, which face greater supply chain dependencies and limited financial resources.

Target 9.1
Target 9.1 aims to promote sustainable industrialization and significantly increase the industry's share of employment and gross domestic product (GDP) by 2030. As of 2021, the share of manufacturing value added in total GDP increased from 16.2% in 2015 to 16.9% in 2021, but the recovery has been uneven across countries, with stagnations in least developed countries [worldbank.org]. Additionally, small industrial enterprises are more vulnerable than larger firms to economic downturns, and governmental support is hardly available in low-income countries.

The pandemic has also negatively impacted almost one in three jobs in the manufacturing industry globally.
At Sourceful, we believe that technological innovation and the use of blockchain technology can help to promote sustainable and inclusive industrialization. By using our decentralized energy system and energy gateway, individuals and communities can take control of their energy resources and contribute to a cleaner, greener future. By using the Sourceful Energy Gateway to measure and validate the energy generated by distributed energy resources (DERs), individuals can earn SRC tokens for their contributions to the decentralized energy grid. The target aims to significantly increase the number of industrial research and development expenditures in developing countries and to encourage innovation and increase the number of companies offering technological services to these countries by 2030.

Target 9.c
SDG9 Target 9.c aims to increase access to information and communication technologies (ICTs) with a specific focus on providing affordable and universal access to the Internet in least developed countries by 2020. Despite progress, the digital divide remains a challenge, particularly in developing countries. In 2021, 95% of the world population had access to a mobile broadband network, but coverage gaps remained in least developed countries and landlocked developing countries, where 17% of the population had no access to a mobile broadband network. Moreover, access to ICTs alone is not enough to ensure development [itu.int]. It is also necessary to build the skills and capacity to use these technologies effectively.
As a company committed to promoting sustainable energy, Sourceful recognizes the importance of access to ICTs for the deployment and management of renewable energy systems. In particular, the Energy Gateway, Sourceful's proprietary device for monitoring and controlling renewable energy systems, is dependent on access to ICTs. With its Helium-enabled network, the Energy Gateway provides an innovative solution for addressing the challenges of connectivity in remote or rural areas, where traditional communication networks may be unreliable or unavailable. By improving access to ICTs, particularly in least developed countries, Sourceful is working towards achieving SDG9 Target 9.c and contributing to the broader goals of sustainable development.
